If you keep up with me, you know that in December, I’ll attempt to break the world record for fastest blindfolded half marathon for a female. Today, I’m excited to share that my journey will be captured in a documentary film. “Blind Momentum” is now in production, and I can’t wait to share behind-the-scenes content this fall as I train for the Kiawah Island Half Marathon.

Directed by Laura Tice and produced by Tice Studios, “Blind Momentum” will showcase the power of the human spirit and the extraordinary achievements that can be accomplished when we dare to dream big and refuse to give up.

Spend a little time with my late sister’s story or read my memoir, Run to the Light, and you’ll understand why I believe this film will inspire you to face your own challenges and pursue your passions with unwavering determination.

Transforming the Impossible Into Possible

We’ve all experienced moments when the world seems to stand still. Moments that, years later, we can still see, hear, smell, taste and feel.

Nearly 15 years have passed since I watched my blind sister cross the finish line of her first 5K race with Girls on the Run. But that singular moment transformed my life and continues to drive me today. In that moment, Taylor proved to the world that she wasn’t simply a 9-year-old girl fighting a fatal disease. She was a runner. And while she hadn’t run fast enough to win an award, she’d earned something far more valuable.

She had defied her demons by ignoring them; by focusing not on what she’d lost, but on what she could still do.

I’ve been running for Taylor ever since she showed the world how to transform the impossible into possible through hard work, courage and, sometimes, a little magic. While my sister never cared about speed, she was bound and determined to do hard things. Break barriers. Fearlessly chase down personal goals. She believed she could do hard things, so she did.

Taylor ran fearlessly. She lived fearlessly. This fall and on race day, I’ll try to bring an ounce of her moxie to my training and world record attempt.

I’m aware that this will be difficult. I can’t promise that I’ll succeed. I can only promise that I’ll give it my best shot. And I’m grateful that Tice Studios will capture it all — the good, the bad and the ugly.
